Join the SCOPE Editorial Advisory Board

DO you want to help steer the content of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine’s members’ magazine?

SCOPE is published in spring, summer, autumn and winter, and Commissioning Editor roles on the Editorial Advisory Board are a great way to help steer its content and to acquire new skills.

Re-launched with new publishers Redactive in 2020, SCOPE has now been shortlisted for a prestigious award. It has made the final of the annual Memcom Awards in the Best Magazine Launch or Re-launch category. This honours publications within the membership sector which demonstrate superior execution of editorial objectives, engaging content and innovative design. The winner will be announced in September.

To ensure the magazine is filled with interesting, informative and valuable material, it relies on submissions by members and non-members. Articles are welcome from all levels including trainees, junior, middle and senior staff.

Commissioning Editors are involved a wide range of editorial elements, including:

  • Identifying issues, developments, innovations and key individuals in their area
  • Identifying potential authors (both members and non-members) and topics suitable for the magazine and commissioning articles from them
  • Liaising with the Editor to agree themes for issues
  • Working closely with the other commissioning editors to coordinate content in line with themes, under the guidance of the Editor

Being a Commissioning Editor for SCOPE does not mean being responsible for the design and layout of the magazine or proofreading or sub-editing articles, or dealing with any copyright issues.
