External Advisor

Clinical Scientist Guided Training Scheme

We’re looking for External Advisors to share their professional knowledge, enthusiasm and personal time. We're particularly keen to hear from Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Protection and Diagnostic Radiology specialisms. We’d like to have a wide range of External Advisors to ensure a diverse group that covers the variety of sub modalities under Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering. Anyone who has 3 years of post-registration experience and is a Fellow or Full Member of IPEM and HCPC registered as a Clinical Scientist is encouraged to apply.

You’ll provide CPD and support to a Clinical Scientist Guided Training Scheme (CSGTS) trainee. Typically, this could involve offering advice and guidance, reviewing training plans, discussing progress or even conducting a mock viva.

You won’t need to attend any committee meetings, we ask that you dedicate approximately one day per year, with time for an annual meeting and to answer questions across the year, with an increase to two to three days in the trainee’s final year.

If you want to have a positive impact on someone in the early stages of their career, looking to meet professionals outside of your local network or support your own professional development, this could be a great volunteering opportunity for you. IPEM and other External Advisors will provide support and training for this role. We'll cover your expenses too.

If you would like to learn more on the role, the role description below has further details. We're always happy to answer any questions you might have about this role. Further information about the CSGTS can be found here.
