Updated ACS generic competencies

NEW generic competencies for Clinical Scientists on the ‘Route 2’ pathway to registration are being introduced from next year.

The Association of Clinical Scientists (ACS), as part of the introduction of new standards of proficiency for professions regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), is introducing its own updated generic competencies, which come into effect from 1 April 2024.

IPEM has a working party which is currently looking to update the specific competencies for medical physicists and clinical engineers under the ACS scheme and it is hoped these will be available ahead of the changeover in April. The working party is also looking to produce some guidance on how the specific competencies can be met.
