Training Outcomes
This e-Learning course will allow learners to recognise the impact of an autism diagnosis on the service user and respond appropriately to their needs. Registrants for the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) are expected to meet the Standards of Proficiency and CPD Standards. This training will particularly support registrants with meeting:
- Standard of Proficiency 5: Recognise the impact of culture, equality and diversity on practice and in a non-discriminatory and inclusive manner.
- Standard of Proficiency 7: Communicate effectively.
- CPD Standard 4: Seek to ensure that their CPD benefits the service user.
Medical Physicists and Clinical Engineers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments in practice and this training will encourage learners to begin considering how they can make reasonable adjustments within their practice to improve the experience of service users with an autism diagnosis.
Additionally, this course is widely applicable and will provide an understanding of the communication needs of individuals with an autism diagnosis and allow learners to begin to reflect on how they can appropriately modify their means of communication to ensure all necessary information is communicated effectively and safely.
