The RCT Management Board is responsible for the management of the Register of Clinical Technologists, which aims to protect the public by regulating the clinical technologist profession. Its full functions are set out in its Terms of Reference. The Board meets three times a year, usually remotely.
Membership of the Management Board comprises the Registrar and Assistant Registrar, two representatives from each of the three collaborating professional bodies (the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine, the Association of Renal Technologists, and the Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management), two elected Registrants and two lay members, who are not part of the technologist profession.
The members of the board will contribute towards the policies, procedures
and principles which form part of the operation of the Register and contribute to its overall direction. For example setting, reviewing and revising standards of competence and behaviour, reviewing the Scopes of Practice covered by the Register and more recently developing an
equivalence route onto the Register.
The role of the elected representatives is particularly important to give an input which reflects the views of the Registrants, which is independent and not governed by the views of the professional bodies involved in running the Register.
The closing date for applications is the 17th July 2025.
