A SERIES of video courses aimed at radiographers, physicists, radiologists and technicians has been launched – with a special rate for IPEM members.
The British Institute of Radiology has launched Radiation Safety 2021, part of the BIR safety campaign and which aims to make imaging and radiation oncology ever safer for patients and health professionals.
It is designed to be engaging, memorable and relevant; each course is 190 minutes long, divided into approximately 20-minute sessions with regular breaks for interactive questions to test the learner’s knowledge. The course includes illustrations, animation, live action, and recorded interviews, culminating in test questions and a certificate. It is written by some of the UK’s foremost radiation safety professionals working in clinical settings, peer reviewed, and with contributions from leading experts.
A special launch rate for IPEM members of £49.99 per participant (£10 off the standard price) is currently on offer and IPEM members should use discount code RS21IPEM at the checkout.
Bruce Walmsley, an IPEM Member and one of the Course Directors, said: ‘Developing and delivering face-to-face training is costly and time-consuming for individual trusts. This course ensures everyone is singing from the same page and prevents reinventing of the wheel at different hospitals across the country.’
Peter Hiles, an IPEM Member and Chair of the BIR Radiation Safety Special Interest Group, added: ‘As everyone is seeking socially-distanced training for their team, the launch of this excellent video couldn’t be more timely.’
