AN important change to Route 2 has been agreed by the Health and Care Professions Council which comes into effect from 1 March.
The Association of Clinical Scientists (ACS) will, from that date, be able to accept applications with no restrictions concerning the length of experience claimed, meaning the ‘six year’ rule will no longer be applied.
The competencies that have to be demonstrated, however, remain unchanged. The ACS feel it is unlikely that applicants will be able to satisfy assessors should they have less than 4 years’ experience and it is vital this includes sufficient clinical exposure in a working environment.
Updated guidelines for applications are being produced and a series of assessor training events are also being planned.
