About the role 

We have multiple great opportunities for Senior Medical Physicists to join us in our radiation oncology medical physics services around New Zealand. 

We are seeking Senior Medical Physicists with at least five years clinical experience in radiation oncology and either ACPSEM registration or an international equivalent. A PhD degree, experience in an academic centre and a track record of publications is desirable. Specific areas of responsibility will be negotiated to suit the successful candidate - s experience and interests. Experience in treatment planning is required, and brachytherapy experience is desirable.

About the Team/Service/Location 

The medical physics teams are friendly and supportive groups with an international flavour. We have colleagues from Wales, Scotland, England, Germany, Argentina, South Africa, and New Zealand. The team has access to a modern range of dosimetry and quality control equipment and software. We work at a high professional standard and present work at conferences and publish in peer reviewed journals. The teams are accredited by the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) for postgraduate training of medical physicists.  

About you 

Critical requirements for the role are as follows: 

  • PhD Physics/Medical Physics or MSc Medical Physics from an ACPSEM accredited university in New Zealand or an overseas equivalent  
  • Significant and relevant clinical experience in radiation oncology medical physics 
  • Interest in research and development as evidenced through peer reviewed publications 
  • Able to achieve high standards of professional competency  
  • Self-directed and high degree of personal initiative  
  • Able to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team as well as independently  
  • Able to prioritise and work to deadlines  
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing  
  • Able to direct the work of others and supervise less experienced members of staff
