CSGTS External Advisor & Principal Clinical Scientist, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust

Dorota Ferguson is a Chartered Clinical Scientist with over 20 years’ experience in nuclear medicine, medical physics, and radiation protection within the UK healthcare system, providing specialist advice on the safe and effective use of ionising radiation across multiple Health and Social Care Trusts in Northern Ireland, through her roles as a Medical Physics Expert, Radiation Protection Adviser, and Radioactive Waste Adviser.

Her work spans clinical service delivery, optimisation, and governance, including dosimetry, radioactive waste management, regulatory oversight, focused on the patient and staff safety. Dorota also plays a key role as a staff trainer and mentor, supporting the development and supervision of other professionals within multidisciplinary teams. She contributes to service development and quality improvement initiatives, promoting evidence-based practice and innovation within complex clinical environments. Alongside her clinical responsibilities, she supports national regulatory and governance activities and professional standards across healthcare and science, with a strong commitment to education, mentorship, and the public interest.

Lead Clinical Scientist, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Victoria Kidgell is a member of IPEM’s Clinical Engineering Special Interest Group (CE SIG) and held the position of Chair from 2023 - 2025. She is the Lead Clinical Scientist in the Medical Device Management Group within Clinical Engineering at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where she is also the training officer for the Clinical Scientist STP trainees.

She obtained an MEng in Mechanical Engineering and then completed an MRes and PhD in Civil and Computational Engineering at Swansea University. After working in the research sector, she retrained as a Clinical Scientist after undertaking the NHS Scientist Training Programme (STP) in 2012, specialising in Clinical Engineering. In 2015 she took up a post as a registered Clinical Scientist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS FT, specialising in biomedical engineering and function within the Specialist Scientific Physiological Services team. There she worked across 3 main services; gait analysis, functional electrical stimulation and foot pressures.

She successfully completed the Chief Scientific Officer’s Women in Science and Engineering (CSO WISE) Leadership Development Programme (2019 cohort), producing national best-practice guidance for clinical pedobarography services. She previously chaired the Standards Committee for the Clinical Movement Analysis Society of the UK and Ireland.

Clinical Scientist (Radiotherapy), Mount Vernon Cancer Centre

Gerry has worked in various roles within Medical Physics; mainly in brachytherapy, where his main interest lies in the development of cervical brachytherapy. He is also active in PET imaging, and some aspects of IT provision for radiotherapy.

He currently co-chairs the IPEM Environmental Sustainability SIG. He has published on brachytherapy, environmental sustainability in healthcare, and PET imaging for oncology. He works at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Northwood, Middlesex.

Mr Andy Harris

Consultant Clinical Scientist, The Christie NHS Foundation Trust

Andy Harris is the lead Clinical Scientist and Medical Physics Expert for the Nuclear Medicine service at the Christie and has worked in nuclear medicine departments across the country over the past 30 years, with positions of responsibility covering all aspects of nuclear medicine service delivery.

Andy has had a particular interest in professional training and development, having been a trainer and assessor for the NSHCS Scientist Training Programme since its inception, as well as leading the development of the current nuclear medicine curriculum. He is an assessor for the ACS Route 2 path to professional registration and is an External Advisor for IPEM Clinical Scientist Guided Training Scheme.

Andy has also had several areas of involvement with IPEM including Chairing the Nuclear Medicine Special Interest Group, organising professional meetings and contributing to a variety of professional guidance and training.
