IPEM Attends ESTRO 2025

The May Bank Holiday saw IPEM back at the ESTRO Conference, this time in the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria.

The Conference and Exhibition, run by the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology, is a premier global event which brought together experts from around the world to discuss the congress theme, Transformative Innovation Through Partnership, explore the latest clinical research, join forces to enhance multidisciplinary cancer care and to generally network and reconnect with peers.

The five-day event, running from 2nd to 6th May, saw around 6,000 delegates descend on the city, over 100 exhibitors attended, 20 organisations had a stand in the Communities Pavillion and five start-up companies showcased their innovations. There was an extensive programme packed with scientific sessions, keynote lectures and seven interdisciplinary tracks, covering areas such as radiobiology, clinical oncology, medical physics and brachytherapy. There were over 200 sessions including plenary talks, meet-the-expert discussions, teaching lectures and industry pitch sessions; there were 47 symposiums, seven specialised courses were held before the main congress, more than 150 mini-oral presentations were delivered and at least 240 poster discussions were had - so plenty to get stuck into and more than a few tired feet by the end!

As always, ESTRO drew a strong crowd from the IPEM community. It was great to see so many familiar faces, including our President, Anna Barnes, who popped by our stand in the Communities Pavilion (and kindly posed for a photo). Anna was also there to present Results from a multi-centre, multi-vendor real-world health economic evaluation of AI auto-contouring tools as part of the proffered papers session on ‘Economically Sustainable Radiotherapy’.

Paul James, Director of Communities, and Sally Hawking, Head of Partnerships, were on hand to represent IPEM at the Pavilion. They spent their time catching up with members, chatting to potential new ones, and connecting with exhibitors and partner organisations to keep our networks growing.

IPEM Company Members were also well represented and we caught-up with AMG Medtech, Leo Cancer Care, Oncology Systems Ltd, PTW-UK Ltd. and Xiel once again to keep the industry connections going strong.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by the stand - it was great to see you!
