Ultrasound Quality Assurance Workshop 2026

The objective of the day is to give those who are new to ultrasound Quality Assurance (QA) the confidence to understand and carry out the basic, essential elements of ultrasound scanner and probe QA, in line with IPEM guidance and current best practice.

The day will be split into two parts; the morning will include guidance around the current IPEM guidance (namely IPEM Report 102), regulations and legislation relating to Ultrasound QA, including screening programmes.

There will also be an overview of the equipment life cycle and where testing (acceptance, routine and ad hoc) fits into this. Plus knowledge exchange on troubleshooting and common faults and artefacts.

We are also delighted to be joined by Donna Holdcroft, Professional Officer at BMUS to provide a sonographer’s perspective.

The afternoon will include demonstrations and practical hands-on experience in testing multiple image modes on a variety of ultrasound scanners which are kindly provided and supported by several manufacturers.

NB - a basic level of ultrasound is required.
