Invited Speakers

We are excited to announce that our invited speakers include;

Prof Mary McLean

Prof Mary McLean

Prof. Mary McLean received a PhD in biochemistry from Trinity College Cambridge, where she investigated brain metabolism using preclinical carbon-13 NMR tracer studies with Prof. Peter Morris. Her early career focused on clinical 1H-MR spectroscopy in vivo, both in cancer with Prof. John Griffiths at the St George’s Hospital Medical School in London (and later at University of Cambridge), and in neurological conditions with Prof. John Duncan at UCL. She is now a Research Professor and Head of Postgraduate Studies in the Radiology Department at the University of Cambridge, where her current research includes imaging and spectroscopy of deuterium, hyperpolarized carbon-13, proton, and sodium. In collaboration with Prof. Ferdia Gallagher, she performed the first human studies with hyperpolarized carbon-13 in Europe, and the first human deuterium imaging at the clinical field strength of 3 Tesla. She is a member of the Governance Board of ISMRM, and she was the founding editor of ‘Positive Spin’, the national newsletter for the British and Irish Chapter of ISMRM.
