IPEM RWA and RPA Updates 2026
Thank you to all those who submitted abstracts. We have had some excellent submissions and are just finalising these into the programme.
We have extended the early bird deadline until 14th July, should anybody need to see the fully live programme to book.
Please see below what you can expect from the day(s).
RWA Update - 9th September 2026
Join us this September for the RWA Update Day, a focused and highly practical event designed specifically for professionals working in radioactive waste management and environmental protection.
Although the full programme is still being finalised, the day will bring together regulators, experienced practitioners and subject matter experts to explore the key challenges facing RWAs today.
Expect a stimulating mix of:
- Regulatory updates, including insights from the Environment Agency and UKHSA
- Real-world case studies, covering complex waste scenarios such as Lu-177 therapies, unintended disposals and environmental monitoring challenges
- Interactive discussions and peer learning, including a dedicated round table session to explore your questions and shared experiences
- Topical and emerging issues, from sustainability and reusable PPE to legacy waste and future technologies
This event is designed to support RWAs in navigating evolving regulatory expectations, sharing good practice, and addressing real operational challenges in waste management.
RPA Update - 10th September 2026
Join us this September for the RPA Update Day, a must-attend event for Radiation Protection Advisers looking to stay at the forefront of clinical practice, regulatory change and emerging technical challenges.
While the full programme will be released soon, we’re already building an engaging and highly relevant day featuring a strong line-up of expert-led case studies alongside key regulatory updates.
This year’s programme will explore a wide range of real-world challenges, including:
- Complex dosimetry and modelling, from Monte Carlo simulations in radiotherapy to novel approaches in needlestick dosimetry
- Practical incident learning, including needlestick events and unintended exposures
- Radiation protection in non-standard settings, such as mobile theatres and prison escort scenarios
- Advances in technology and equipment management, including detector suitability, remote handover, and proton therapy systems
- Patient-centred protection, including improved approaches to instructions following radiopharmaceutical administration
- Governance, compliance and culture, covering topics such as RADAN consent, digital tools for compliance, and PPE risk assessments
Alongside these case studies, regulatory updates will ensure you are fully up to date with current expectations and policy directions, helping you confidently support your organisation.
The event is designed to be practical, thought-provoking and directly applicable to your day-to-day role as an RPA, with opportunities to learn from peers and reflect on shared challenges.
Take advantage of the early bird rate and secure your place at either the RPA or RWA Update Day before the full programmes are announced. With strong interest expected across both communities and a high-quality mix of regulatory updates, expert speakers and practical case studies already confirmed, places are likely to fill quickly.
Early booking ensures you don’t miss out on these popular events and puts you at the heart of the discussions shaping both radiation protection and radioactive waste practice.
