IPEM RWA and RPA Updates 2026
Call for late and breaking abstracts
IPEM is inviting late and breaking abstract submissions for the upcoming Radiation Waste Adviser (RWA) and Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) Update Days.
To help create a well-balanced and representative programme across both days, we are keen to receive additional abstracts that broaden the range of topics and perspectives.
We particularly welcome contributions on (but not limited to):
- day-to-day practice, challenges, and practical solutions
- waste management strategies, minimisation, and sustainability (RWA)
- implementation of IRR17, IR(ME)R, and evolving regulatory requirements (RPA)
- audit, inspection, and compliance experiences
- incident investigations, near misses, and lessons learned
- collaboration across disciplines, including regulators and clinical teams
- emerging technologies, digital tools, and innovative approaches
- experiences outside healthcare, including industry, research, and academia
Submissions that provide practical insight, transferable learning, or honest reflections on challenges are especially encouraged.
Why submit?
- Share your expertise with a national audience
- Contribute to professional learning and discussion
- Showcase innovation and good practice
- Help shape a diverse and engaging programme for both communities
Whether your work highlights routine practice, a unique case, or a novel approach, your contribution will help ensure these update days reflect the full breadth of RWA and RPA work.
Late and Breaking Abstract and case study submissions have be further extended to the 15th June alongside the early bird booking deadline.
RWA Update - 9th September 2026
Management and handling of radioactive waste in the medical sector continues to be an important and complex task. The RWA Update will focus on ensuring the most up to date regulatory compliance, best practice, and learning from experiences of others dealing with radioactive waste.
RPA Update - 10th September 2026
The RPA Update Meeting is IPEM’s principal meeting of the year for those working in the field of Radiation Protection in the healthcare sector.
The meeting will include talks from Regulators, relevant bodies and RPAs working in the field, and will have both invited and proffered papers. It is an invaluable one for both those seeking RPA accreditation and those wishing to maintain or expand their CPD.
Registration now open! Book now for early bird discount until the end of June.
