Dr Matt Rowlandson
Dr Matt Rowlandson is Head of Clinical and Radiation Physics for the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust where he leads a team of clinical scientists and technologists who provide radiation protection advice and scientific support to nuclear medicine and diagnostic radiology across two NHS foundation trusts.
Previously he worked in the Regional Radiation Protection Service based at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust in Guildford where he supported several NHS trusts and private healthcare providers, offering radiation protection advice and medical physics support to a wide selection of services. Matt is the chair of the DR SIG where there he has led on what the community can do to best support aspiring MPEs, including arranging several talks for IPEM's MPE update day. He also supports several aspiring MPEs putting together their portfolios.
Mr Matt Gray
Matt is an HCPC registered Clinical Scientist and Medical Physics Expert. Matt’s honours degree was in Astronomy and Physics at the University of Glasgow. Some years later Matt trained as an IPEM Part 1 Medical Physics Trainee in the North London Training Consortium in 2007-2009 and went onto his first proper job in Nuclear Medicine at the Royal Marsden Hospital in South London.
In 2016 Matt relocated to Norwich with his family where he was employed eventually as the Principal Scientist and Medical Physics Expert in Nuclear Medicine at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals. As well as supporting general diagnostic nuclear medicine activities, it has an active therapy service, PET/CT and Radiopharmacy where Matt provides support alongside colleagues based in the East Anglia Regional Radiation Protection Service. Matt also teaches on the FRCR Radiology Training Course run by the Hospitals Radiology Academy.
Matt’s current interests are in image optimisation and the promotion of Nuclear Medicine within the Trust through the establishment of a Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering Group. Matt enjoys any outreach activities where there is a prospect of promoting the field to the wider public and has participated in the annual Norfolk and Norwich Science Festival programme of events as well as talking at schools in the local region.
Matt settled in Norwich with his wife and three children and a very demanding little dog. Favourite pastimes include snowboarding, running, cycling and trying to find the time to listen to a substantial quantity of vinyl records when I’m off duty.
