Vice President Academic

We are looking for a new Vice President Academic to join our Members Advisory and Prioriitisation Council (MAPC). MAPC is the overarching council providing longer term direction to the work of the wider volunteering structure ensuring maximum impact and efficiency in IPEM's work. The council was created for one core purpose - to ensure IPEM's work is led by the ideas, expertise and needs of our members. The role involves advising MAPC and IPEM on internal and external issues, policies and developments relating to academic practice and activities across the UK. It also includes representing IPEM at meetings and events relating to academia, advising on the recruitment, engagement and retention of members from academic settings and chairing the Prizes and Award Committee. 

 

You'll need to be a full member or Fellow and have knowledge and understanding of the UK Higher Education sector including current research landscapes, trends and developments in academic physics and engineering. The ability to build and maintain relationships with Higher Education Institutions and academic IPEM members is important. We anticipate no more than 10 days per year time commitment for this role. There are 4 MAPC meetings a year, 3 held on Teams (90 mins each) and 1 in person meeting.
