IPEM's National Office at Fairmount House, 230 Tadcaster Road, York, is situated on the A1036 main road into York city centre, which runs from the beginning of the A64 York southern by-pass near Askham Bar. Fairmount House can also be approached from the A1237 York northern by-pass, via the A59 Harrogate to York road which, as Holgate Road, joins the A1036 near the city centre. Turn right from the A59 on to the A1036 to leave York and look for Fairmount House on your right.
Fairmount House is the centre of a block of three former Victorian Town Houses and is opposite the Knavesmire Road end of York Racecourse. The block is at the junction of Tadcaster Road and St George's Place.
Pedestrian access to Fairmount House from Tadcaster Road is clearly marked by a sign at the front of the building.
Level wheelchair access and limited parking is available at the rear. Access to the car park is along St George's Place, left into Tyburn Court and left again into the IPEM car park, which is signed from Tyburn Court and from its entrance.
There is additional free and unrestricted road-side parking on Knavesmire Road.
Travelling by Rail? Fairmount House is a short taxi ride from the station and there are regular bus services along Tadcaster Road. The walking distance is 0.8 miles and takes 15-20 minutes. Turn right out of the station, follow the City walls to Micklegate Bar and turn right, heading away from the city centre, keeping to the right hand side of the road. The road is straight but changes name from Blossom Street to The Mount and again to Mount Vale before becoming Tadcaster Road.
