Optimisation challenges and successes in a modern, resource-poor health service

This meeting aims to draw together the UK’s Medical Physics workforce to share and learn of successes in optimisiation work across all x-ray imaging disciplines including diagnostic radiology, CT, cardiology, neurointerventional and interventional fluoroscopy. 

​With an understaffed Medical Physics workforce in Radiation Protection and Diagnostic Radiology, and an exponential increase in diagnostic capacity at hospitals across the UK, performing image quality and patient dose optimisation with minimal resources and substantial results is vital. Join us in Birmingham to discuss and learn of the successes in optimisation.

Call for Abstracts

​Abstracts are welcome on all topics related to optimisation, for example: 

  • ​Screening programmes and the challenges around standardisation of protocols across sites/systems. 
  • ​The application of patient dose management software to aid optimisation work. 
  • ​Experiences with commercially available ‘AI’ software to improve image quality, thus enabling reduction in dose. 
  • ​Comparisons of commercially available phantoms for optimisation work. 
  • ​Paediatric optimisation challenges and successes. 
  • ​Engagement issues on multidisciplinary optimisation groups and recognition of optimisation groups in hospital management. 

This is an excellent opportunity to share your work, gain feedback from peers, and contribute to shaping the future of Radiation Protection and Diagnostic Radiology.
