A DELEGATION from IPEM visited the National Physical Laboratory to explore how the Institute can establish clear links between the two organisations.

Led by Dr Anna Barnes, IPEM’s President, the group was given tours of the radiotherapy, nuclear medicine and ultrasound laboratories.

IPEM has many members working at the world-renowned metrology laboratory, who contribute to the Institute’s numerous Special Interest Groups, publications and Task & Finish groups.

Jen Cannon, IPEM’s Professional Knowledge and Innovation Manager, gave an overview of IPEM’s science leadership strategy, and highlighted that these overlapped significantly with the NPL’s strategic objectives.

Dr Barnes said: ‘We had a whole day of illuminating talks and tours and the purpose was to focus on how NPL and IPEM could support each other with respect to the work we do and how our members could benefit from a closer collaboration.’

IPEM’s delegation also consisted of Dr Mohammad Al-Amri, Director, Science, Technology and Engineering Research and Innovation Council, Dr Ben Metcalfe, Vice President Academic, Dr Warren Macdonald, Vice President Engineering, and Matthew Dunn, Vice President Medical Physics.
