Launch of IPEM podcast series with round table on Health and Social Care White Paper

A NEW series of podcasts has been launched by IPEM - with the first one featuring a round table discussion on the Health and Social Care White Paper.

Dr Robert Farley, IPEM’s President Elect, chaired the discussion on the Department of Health and Social Care’s White Paper Integration and innovation: working together to improve health and social care for all.

The panellists on the round table were Angela Douglas MBE, Deputy Chief Scientific Officer for NHS England and NHS Improvement and now an Honorary Fellow of IPEM, and IPEM members Dr Anna Barnes, Robin Mark McDade and Nick Gulliver.

You can listen to the podcast, the first in the new IPEM Insights series, here:

They discussed how the White Paper might impact upon physicists, clinical and biomedical engineers and technologists generally, as well as some of the issues it raises, such as funding, service integration, registration and regulation, workforce planning, patient voice and whether now - with the pandemic still very much a live issue - is the right time to be considering such proposals.

You can watch the vodcast of the discussion here:

Professor Stephen O’Connor, IPEM’s President, said: ‘This was a great discussion on such an important area and covered a lot of ground. I would like to thank all our panellists for taking part and contributing to this first IPEM podcast.’

More podcasts are being planned for the future so please do let us know what you think, and if you have an idea for a topic you would like to be covered, then please send it, marked ‘Podcast ideas’, to communications@ipem.ac.uk
