National Training Scheme for Bone Densitometry: Lecture Course
The two-day lecture course is suitable for all healthcare professionals with an interest in osteoporosis and fragility fractures, and who are actively scanning. This includes physicians, nurses, radiographers, technologists and clinical scientists.
It is delivered by osteoporosis experts and includes lectures and interactive workshops on:
- Understanding osteoporosis, fracture risk, prevention and treatment.
- The principles of DXA technolology and bone densitometry.
- Radiation protection and safe scanning practice.
- Practical DXA scanning techniques and patient positioning.
- Interpretation of bone density results and scan reports.
- Quality assurance governance and service standards.
- Statistics and data analysis relevant to bone densitometry.
- Specialist applications, including vertebral fracture assessment, whole-body DXA paediatric densitometry.
- Interactive workshops covering scan interpretation, case studies, quality control and optimisation of DXA systems
Date: This lecture day will be held on either 15th/16th April 2027 or 13th/14th May 2027.
Location: This lecture day will be held in either Manchester or Birmingham.
