Medical physicists required to join UKIO Working Party

08/12/2023

THE UK Imaging and Oncology Congress (UKIO) are asking for IPEM medical physicists to join their Working Party, in particular individuals who enjoy conferences and with ideas for sessions.

Volunteers should have:

  • Some experience of organising scientific sessions at meetings (for example, being part of a Special Interest Group organising meetings or a session at STEF)
  • Knowledge of the current topics in their field (medical imaging or radiation protection) enough to put together an interesting session
  • Enthusiasm.

Individuals will be invited to attend the conference and may also get involved with chairing a session, judging papers and posters.

Travel costs as part of the organising committee, attendance at the conference and social events are supported by the conference organisation. The time commitment is variable but not too onerous.

Working Party members help to organise one or more scientific sessions (typically three speakers in a one-hour slot). There is superb conference support from Profile Productions so the ideas and contact details for speakers are the main work – once a session is organised and the speakers are determined, the support team take care of everything else and fund expenses for all invited speakers.

Members of the UKIO Working Party act in their own capacity but can always ask fellow IPEM members or SIGs for ideas.

Anyone interested in applying to join the UKIO Working Party should contact Fiona McKeown, IPEM’s External and International Services Manager, at fionam@ipem.ac.uk
