This group is also known as NMSG or NMSQG is a sub-group of the IPEM Nuclear Medicine Special Interest Group. The group is also supported by the BNMS.
Aims of the NMSQG and Terms of Reference:
- To distribute a series of test images to UK nuclear medicine centres for computer analysis, and to collate returned results to show variability of quantitative parameters.
- To report each centre’s position within the UK distribution via Regional Co-ordinators.
- To promote local initiatives for validation of algorithms and other software utilities.
- To highlight problem areas to the Nuclear Medicine community and to suppliers of Nuclear Medicine Software.

- An audit of OSEM implementations across various vendors has recently been published in Nuclear Medicine Communications.
- A national GFR audit is in process.
Current Audits
The national GFR audit has now completed the data collection. We are currently analysing the data to build a clearer picture of national variation, identify opportunities for improvement and strengthen confidence in the methods we use locally.
