Many complex processing and image analysis techniques are used in Nuclear Medicine, with major advances in recent years powered by increased computational capabilities. Having an understanding of their underlying scientific basis and construction is vital for their optimal deployment, as well as for effective troubleshooting and for evaluating their impact in the clinical setting. This meeting will include talks on a selection of cutting-edge techniques applied to Nuclear Medicine & PET imaging, providing valuable information on how they can be used to extract information from imaging data that is not obtainable from visual interpretation alone. To give attendees a greater understanding of implementing such techniques, this meeting will include a workshop element to enrich the learning experience with step-by-step examples. In addition to an update on the current status of mathematical techniques already in use in Nuclear Medicine, future directions in image processing and analysis techniques will also be covered, such as the application and potential impact of AI.
