The topic for this first in a series of four webinars is: Governance in MRI for Radiotherapy Planning: MRI Safety and Staff Training
The use of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Radiotherapy is continuously growing. Many institutions see the introduction of MRI examinations for RT planning as a natural exapansion of the MRI diagnostic services which does not require a very large investment, while others prefer to have MRI scanners totally dedicated to Radiotherapy Planning. In either case this hybrid service has specific needs which must be addressed with input from both MRI and Radiotherapy professionals.
This webinar series discusses the adaptations to patient positioning and MRI protocols required for the provision of this service, the governance requirements to ensure MR Safety is maintained and recommendations for Quality Assurance. The ultimate goal of this webinar series is to support Clinical Scientists, Radiographers, Radiologists and Oncologists in developing and maintaining the high standards a service of MRI for RT planning requires. The webinar series will detail the recommendations of the MR in External Beam Radiotherapy Working Party (Phys Med Biol. 2021 Feb 25;66(5). doi: 10.1088/1361-6560/abdc30.) making it accessible to its typical users.
Sarah Allwood-Spiers will lead this first webinar on Governance in MRI for Radiotherapy Planning: MRI Safety and Staff Training and will be joined by Lisa McDaid
