Imaging in Radiotherapy

**New Date - Tuesday 29th November** This meeting aims to provide relevant updates and a forum for collaboration and learning between centres regarding all aspects of radiotherapy imaging.

Organised by IPEM's Diagnostic Radiology and Radiotherapy Special Interest Groups

X-ray imaging techniques play an integral role in radiotherapy and over the last few years there have been significant changes and progress in this field

Diagnostic and Radiotherapy teams have been striving to provide quality imaging which meets the needs of the Clinicians and Radiographers in both Brachytherapy and External Beam Radiotherapy, while ensuring patient doses are as low as reasonably practicable. The updated IR(ME)R 2017 legislation has emphasised the importance of the Medical Physics Expert role in optimisation however many departments struggle to implement optimisation strategies and are working as standalone groups.

This in person meeting, which is organised jointly by DR-SIG and RT-SIG, aims to provide relevant updates and a forum for collaboration and learning between centres regarding all aspects of radiotherapy imaging.

Anticipated Learning Outcomes

Attendees will receive an update on the impact of the latest IR(ME)R legislation and associated SAUE guidance on the radiotherapy imaging community specifically.
- Attendees will receive up to date information on the latest optimisation techniques involved in a wide range of radiotherapy imaging equipment
- Attendees will receive information on the most recent dose reference levels published in 2018 for planning CT and will learn about the experiences of other centres in applying these locally.
- Attendees will learn how other centres are using the MPE role to assist in fulfilling the statutory requirements to optimise patient exposures.

Target Audience

Radiotherapy and diagnostic radiology physicists & technologist staff with an interest in imaging in radiotherapy. Radiographers with an interest in radiotherapy imaging.
