Clinical Risk Management Foundation Course October 2022

IPEM is hosting a foundation training course in Clinical Risk Management. The course will be delivered by NHS Digital exclusively for IPEM members and would equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to act as Clinical Safety Officer. This one day course hosted by IPEM on 4th October has limited availability.

The course covers DCB0129: Clinical Risk Management: its Application in the Manufacture of Health IT Systems and DCB0160: Clinical Risk Management: its Application in the Deployment and Use of Health IT Systems.

This course may be of interest to clinical scientists, engineers and technologists involved in clinical software development, upgrades to existing IT systems, implementation of new IT systems, and those with responsibility for the day to day management or governance of clinical IT systems. This may be an opportunity for MPEs responsible for computer systems to develop their skillset.

Being a dedicated IPEM course this would also be an opportunity to start developing a network of Clinical Safety Officers within the MPCE community. Details of the regular course are available on the NHS Digital website: https://digital.nhs.uk/services/clinical-safety/clinical-risk-management-training.

This course normally costs £475 for NHS participants (£750 for non NHS) and the course is generally oversubscribed. The dedicated course is therefore available at a significant cost reduction for IPEM members.
IPEM Members Employed by the NHS £380
IPEM Members not employed by NHS £505 *not available to non-members*

The course will be delivered remotely, and consists of ten pre-course modules and a training day.  The total viewing time for the pre-course modules is approximately 2.5 hours. The training day focusses on practical workshops, activities and discussion.
The pre-recorded sessions will be sent via email four weeks before attending the course, allowing plenty of time for you to watch and understand the material. A PDF of the slides will also accompany the recordings, should you wish to make notes based on the videos.

Delegates are encouraged to present any questions or comments following the short recap of the relevant module that will be given on the day.

The course will run from 9.30am and will finish no later than 3pm.

Completion of the e-learning and watching of the pre-recorded modules are essential prior to attending the workshop. The modules will be released once a copy of the e-learning certificate has been received, and receipt of the modules is required in advance of the course day.

The pre-recorded modules are available free of charge to NHS employees via the e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) hub. Those with an NHS email address can access any  e-LfH programme with an e-LfH account. If you don't have an account, then you can register by selecting the 'Register' button on the right hand side of the e-LfH homepage. Those without an NHS email account can purchase access to the e-learning.

If you already have an account with e-LfH, then you can enrol on the Clinical Safety Programme by logging in to the e-LfH hub, selecting My Account > Enrolment and selecting the Clinical Risk Management programme. You can then access the Clinical Risk Management e-Learning sessions immediately in the My e-Learning section. Registration closing Date - Tuesday 30th August 2022
