Brachytherapy Applicator Dosimetry (BRAD) Phantom

Brachytherapy Applicator Dosimetry (BRAD) Phantom

PLEASE NOTE: As of October 2022, the BRAD phantom is not available as it is currently being updated. BRAD is a passive phantom constructed of Solid Water material housed within a perspex water tank. It essentially consists of a frame to hold radiochromic films and brachytherapy cervix treatment applicators in a fixed relative geometry. This enables a system check of CT applicator reconstruction and subsequent comparison of treatment plan and delivered dose distributions. A well-developed film dosimetry process and ability to compare dose distributions is required for accurate use of the BRAD phantom. Provision of this service may be available from the Portsmouth Medical Physics Dept, at cost, if not available locally. This is a unique phantom designed by IPEM members and is therefore not commercially available. Further details are available in the PMB publication: http://m.iopscience.iop.org/0031-9155/58/19/6623/article. NB. Queries of a technical nature only on this phantom can be directed to Tony Palmer at tony.palmer@porthosp.nhs.uk, for all other inquiries click below. Home location: Portsmouth
