IPEM accredits and approves a number of academic courses in medical physics and biomedical engineering. There is a distinction between these grades and, depending on the process followed, a course provider will be entitled to use a specific IPEM logo on marketing and publicity materials.
Accreditation is independent recognition by IPEM, as the UK professional body for physics and engineering in medicine, that a university programme meets defined educational standards and has a suitable learning environment for its students.
IPEM accredits Masters Level programmes in Clinical Engineering or Medical Physics via IPEM's Masters Level Accredited Framework (MLAF).
For more information, including a list of accredited programmes, please click here. If accredited, providers will receive an 'IPEM Masters Level Programme Accredited' logo for their use.
As a Professional Engineering Institution (PEI), IPEM takes part in accreditation visits of undergraduate degree and integrated masters programmes arranged by the Engineering Council's Engineering Accreditation Board (EAB). For more information please click here. If accredited, providers will receive an 'IPEM Undergraduate Level Programme Accredited' logo for their use.
IPEM offers an approval process for external short courses and one day meetings as CPD activity for professionals. Approval is an independent audit process that grants recognition by IPEM, as the UK professional body for physics and engineering in medicine, of courses which have a programme of relevant teaching activities that are suitable to meet the published aims and objectives. For more information, including a list of approved courses, please click here. If approved, providers will receive an 'IPEM CPD Approved' logo for their use.
