IPEM members have collaborated with Health Education England e-Learning for Healthcare to update and relaunch the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations e-learning programme (e-IRMER).
A team of editors reviewed 41 sessions across five modules to reflect the legislative changes brought in by the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 and associated regulations. Particular attention was given to topics in IR(ME)R 2017 Schedule 3. Further modules in radiotherapy are in the planning stages.
Mark Knight, IPEM’s Vice President Medical Physics, said: ‘This is a major revision of this popular e-learning package, which has attracted over 40,000 registrants since its inception in 2011.
‘The package is used by a wide variety of healthcare staff, including those in the healthcare science, nursing, medical and Allied Health Professions. The relaunch gives employers confidence that the training provided by the e-IRMER programme across the multidisciplinary workforce is up-to-date and relevant to the current regulations.’
Professor Mark Tooley, IPEM’s President, added: ‘I want to thank the sizeable team of IPEM volunteers who have helped to update and revise this important e-learning programme.’
