Green MPEC 2020

Green MPEC!

A few small changes we made in 2019 with a greener outlook in mind;

  • We offered a digital booklet uploaded onto a memory stick for all delegates to save on paper waste.
  • We selected Bristol as our city to host MPEC 2019. In 2015 Bristol became the UK’s first ever European Green Capital with a drive for creating a sustainable city, Bristol is the perfect host for our green initiative.
  • We offered a range of vegetarian only meals for the event. Vegetarianism has been consistently linked with a more sustainable approach to eating and supporting the 'Green Movement'. Scientists believe that a vegetarian diet has 2.5 times less carbon emissions than a meat based diet.
  • The Marriot Bristol City Centre Hotel do not use unnecessary plastic or single use products, all food was served on reusable crockery.
  • If you arrived to MPEC via public transport, cycling or walking you received a free IPEM mug.
  • IPEM Conferences recycle all our badge holders to prevent unnecessary plastic waste.
  • We offered a walking tour of Bristol for one of our social events, on the tour guests saw the beautiful sights of Bristol in an eco-friendly fashion.

If you have any ideas about how you think we can help support 'greener' conferences at this years MPEC, please email us at

We want to make this years Biennial Radiotherapy Meeting and the Medical Physics and Engineering Conference 2020 as eco friendly as we can! We are holding a competition for the best green initiative that we can put in place, the prize will be free entry to one social event of your choice at the meeting.
