Organised by IPEM's Radiotherapy Special Interest Group
Margins in Radiotherapy have generally decreased as planning systems, imaging and treatment delivery have become more sophisticated allowing greater accuracy and precision in Radiotherapy delivery to the intended target volume. The role out of SABR nationally will have also lead to discussions specifically regarding the correct margin to apply to such high dose per fraction treatment regimens. The context of this conference is described in the title, “How low can you go?”, which will challenge existing belief and practise. Have you performed some major work justifying a decrease in your CTV/ITV/PTV margins? Perhaps you have assessed your margins through regular use of CBCT, 4D-CT, SGRT etc. You may have assessed your treatment delivery margins through rigourous PSQA, end to end testing, differences in planning technique, or even developed a novel evaluation methodology which has not been previously seen in the professional community!
Join us for a conference discussing the evidence based reduction in margins and come away with thoughts and ideas that you may wish to implement or discuss in your radiotherapy centre.
Anticipated learning outcomes
1) New ideas regarding how to assess the margins required in radiotherapy treatments.2) How to implement these ideas to allow quality improvements to be made in local departments.
