To join the IPEM Clinical Technologist Training Scheme you must first be employed as a Trainee Clinical Technologist in an IPEM accredited centre.
If you don't already have such a post you could try the following:
To apply for the Clinical Technologist Training Scheme, you should complete and submit an application form, in conjunction with the Training Co-ordinator for the Training Centre. Please read the Technologist Training Scheme Handbook before completing the form. You also need to apply for IPEM Associate membership at the same time.
There are two intakes each year - in April and October. Applications must be received by the end of March and September respectively to be included in the requested intake. Applications not submitted at these times will be held until the next available session. Induction days are held in May and November for new trainees and vivas are also held in May and November, with portfolio submission dates in March and September.
The training scheme is aimed at enabling Clinical Technologists to achieve RCT registration. You need to produce evidence in a Training Plan of how you will meet the Scopes of Practice. Your CV should provide evidence of what you have achieved so far and the training plan should show how you will achieve the remainder of the scopes.
You must also apply for Associate membership of IPEM, via a separate application form. Associate membership is free for the duration of your training. Both applications should be sent to the IPEM office in York.
A fee of £620.00 covering a 24 month training period is payable for each trainee on the scheme.
