HEAD OF RADIOTHERAPY PHYSICS - BAND 8D

There is an exciting opportunity to join UHBW and become Head of Radiotherapy Physics in a leading Cancer Centre with strong links to the South West Radiotherapy Network and the University of Bristol.

The Centre has five Elekta Versa HD linacs with Agility MLCs delivering a large volume of VMAT treatments. Planning is performed on Raystation with imaging available on 2 dedicated 4D CT scanners and access to MRI.  For brachytherapy the Centre uses a Varian Brachyvision HDR system and intracranial SRS/SRT is provided using the relocatable frame capable GammaKnife Icon system. The oncology management system is Mosaiq. The Centre is a leading provider of SABR and is active in many clinical trials. Molecular radiotherapy is carried out in a dedicated unit within the same building. In-house engineering support is provided by the Medical Equipment Management Organisation, (MEMO) team within the Department of Medical Physics and Bioengineering. The Centre is ISO 9001:2015 certified.

The Department has a history of research with strong links to industry. The post holder would be encouraged to develop their research interests. The successful candidate will be an HCPC registered Clinical Scientist, with proven management and leadership capabilities. Additionally they will be an experienced MPE, having extensive knowledge and expertise in radiotherapy physics; including a thorough knowledge of relevant legislation and clinical practice.

Bristol is a vibrant and dynamic historic city with a great offer of restaurants, music and entertainment. There are good rail links to London and Bath, whilst Wales and the West Country are easily accessible.
