UNSEALED SOURCES CLINICAL TECHNOLOGIST - NHS AfC BAND 6

We are seeking a Clinical Technologist to provide radiation protection and quality assurance services primarily for unsealed sources but also x-ray.

As a key member within our diverse team, you will be required to work independently to manage and deliver a wide range of technical services, including, but not limited to the day to day running of the TLD dosimetry service, testing and examination of radiation protection instruments, radioactive waste management, environmental dose measurement, radon measurement and  radioactive sample analysis. 

We provide services internally to the STH Trust and externally to other NHS and private healthcare services.  This currently includes five nuclear medicine services (four radiopharmacies and molecular radiotherapy), PET/CT, PET/MRI, a number of laboratory users, estates departments  and industrial commercial clients.  Services are also provided to GP surgeries, dentists and vets, education and to other users of ionising radiation. A consultancy service is also provided to international pharmaceutical companies, public bodies and commercial industry.

We require applicants with lively personalities who can rise to the challenge of a demanding and varied workload. Applicants should ideally be qualified as a Clinical Technologist with experience relevant to unsealed/sealed source radiation protection and diagnostic radiology, and have an HNC or degree in a relevant subject. Candidates with less experience are encouraged to apply, but may initially be appointed at a lower grade. We are committed to actively supporting the professional development of our staff.
