SCOTTISH MEDICAL PHYSICS & CLINICAL ENGINEERING TRAINING SCHEME - CLINICAL ENGINEERING, BAND 6

Various locations throughout Scotland

£28,050 - £37,010 per annum

Full-time 37.5 hours per week

Temporary for 3.5 Years

Applications are invited from candidates with a First or Second Class Honours Degree in Physical Sciences for entry to the training scheme for Clinical Engineers.

We aim to employ 2 trainees in total.  Both trainees will be enrolled on the Clinical Engineering scheme.  One will be expected to specialise in Rehabilitation Engineering and the other in Clinical Engineering.

The training in Scotland will include rotations and acquaintanceships allowing trainees to build a portfolio for registration as a clinical scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council.  Funding for postgraduate training and course fees will be provided. Current salary scale for these supernumerary trainee posts is ‘AfC’ Band 6.

Trainees will each be given a contract of employment, starting at the beginning of September 2019 with one of the Scottish departments.  Clinical Engineering Trainees will register on the Scottish Training Scheme and, in their first year of employment, study for an MSc degree at Strathclyde University.  In the subsequent years of employment, trainees will be based in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness.

Sponsorship will be required for applicants from outside the EEA. We will not be able to get Sponsorship for an applicant if the post can be filled by a UK or EEA resident and therefore are unlikely to consider applicants resident outside the EEA area. Unless they evidence entitlement to work in the UK without restrictions.

Informal enquiries about the Clinical Engineering scheme should be made to Professor David Keating.

Applications should be made on line by visiting www.nhsgrampian.org/jobsand searching for the job reference number NW22607.  Details can also be found on www.jobs.scot.nhs.uk.

Closing Date: 28th February 2019.

Interviews are currently scheduled for 18 April 2019 and will be held in Glasgow.
