As a UK-based organisation with international members and influence, IPEM works with many partners in many different ways.
IPEM is the sole National Member Organisation representing the UK in the International Organisation for Medical Physics and the European Federation of Organisations for Medical Physics. IPEM is also a member of the European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering and Science, and the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering. For more on our international links click here.
IPEM is a sponsor or funder of several initiatives that meet our charitable objectives, including: Sense about Science and Voice of Young Science. We also support the Science Media Centre, and the Science in Parliament magazine.
In recent years, we have provided funding to the Smallpeice Trust to run summer schools for young people interested in biomedical engineering. You can read their latest report here.
IPEM is also licensed by the Engineering Council and the Science Council to award Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Engineering Technician (IEngTech), Chartered Scientist (CSci), Registered Scientist (RSci) and Registered Scientist Technician (RSciTech) – see here for more on this.
We are also part of the Engineering the Future alliance of Professional Engineering Institutions and have established a partnership with the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR) through the formations of a Radiotherapy Board and a Clinical Imaging Board.
As a UK-wide organisation, IPEM aims to work constructively with the Governments of the four countries of the UK on issues related to healthcare science, education, research and innovation, to advance physics and engineering in medicine.
