Science for Patient Benefit

Our campaign "Science for Patient Benefit" was launched on 27 June 2016.

To download a copy of our poster please click here. Hardcopies (in A2 and A3) as well as "Science for Patient Benefit" pens and lanyards can be requested free of charge from communications@ipem.ac.uk.

International Reach

In response to requests from other professional international organisations the campaign material has been made freely available to everyone.  Organisations such as the European Federation of Medical Physics Organisations (EFOMP) have promoted this within their membership and the responses have been very positive.  Some countries where English is commonly spoken (such as India and Malta) have used the original material and others have translated the posters into their own language to make it accessible to patients in their country.

Should you wish to use our artwork and translate it please get in touch with Sean or Eva on communications@ipem.ac.uk

Support from other organisations

“The Science for Patient Benefit campaign highlights the amazing contribution scientists, medical physicists, engineers and technologists make to patient care daily through the diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative and innovative services they provide. This inspiring initiative will demonstrate their critical role in delivering a modern healthcare service.”
Professor Sue Hill, OBE PhD DSc CBiol FSB Hon FRCP Hon FRCPath
Chief Scientific Officer for NHS England

“I am delighted to support this excellent Science for Patient Benefit initiative from IPEM, which highlights the essential role of the healthcare scientist as a vital part of the healthcare team. British healthcare is the envy of the world because we have a heritage of high quality scientists supporting all aspects of clinical work – diagnosis, treatment and monitoring. Behind every good doctor and nurse there is a great scientific team - and medical physicists, engineers and technologists are the epitome of this teamwork.”
Brendan G Cooper B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc., Ph.D., C.Biol, FRSB, FERS.
President of the Academy for Healthcare Science
