Bursaries 

The IPEM Bursary Scheme provides awards to support development and scholarship in the application of physical science and engineering in medicine and biology.

Suitable purposes for which awards may be made include:
  • attendance at scientific meetings (including those held overseas)
  • research training support for research projects
  • scientific exchange
  • scientific visits to other institutions
Guidance for Applicants:
  1. The value of an individual award is not limited but there are limited funds available for the scheme. 
  2. Awards of more than £1,000 will only be made in exceptional circumstances.
  3. Applicants must submit the Bursary Scheme application form together with a copy of their curriculum vitae.  Applications must be supported by the applicant's Head of Department.
  4. Applications will be considered by the IPEM Awards Committee. The decision of the Awards Committee is final and there is no mechanism for appeal.
  5. Awards will be made on the basis of the details supplied in the application form. Additional funding requirements due to price increases, incorrect information etc must be met by the applicant.
  6. Unused awards, in part or full, must be returned to the Institute.
  7. Receipts for expenditure must be provided before reimbursement.
  8. Recipients of an award will be required to submit an article for publication in SCOPE within six months of receiving the award.
  9. Individuals are restricted to receiving one award in any 5 year period.  Institutions are restricted to one award each year.
