The approval process takes, on average, nine months to conclude, so education providers wishing to gain HPC approval for the first time should make contact with the HPC as soon as possible.
Existing approved courses which have been changed to meet MSC requirements must also be notified to the HPC. The HPC does not approve training programmes retrospectively.
HPC approval is not obligatory – but is strongly recommended if the education provider wishes their students to be eligible to register as biomedical or clinical scientists, in addition to accessing the MSC framework. However there is no legal requirement to be statutory regulated as a healthcare science practitioner.
