Applications are invited for a Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist - Advanced to join a team to provide high level of scientific and technological expertise for the delivery of accurate radiation treatments at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane.
The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) Oncology Services is a highly developed, multidisciplinary cancer service in one of Australia's largest teaching hospitals. The hospital provides a comprehensive adult cancer service encompassing haematological, surgical, medical and radiation oncology specialities.
Unique features of the PAH Cancer Services include:
- An established intellectual environment and research culture that brings together research scientists and clinicians across disciplines, and
- Strong tradition of basic and clinical research with particular success in research translation.
Radiation therapy at Princes Alexandra Hospital currently has three Elekta linear accelerators with an additional three linear accelerator bunkers under construction. The commissioning of additional linear accelerators for these new bunkers will commence in early 2011. The department has an Varian Eclipse planning system, a Toshiba LB CT scanner, a Varian simulator and a good range of physics measurement equipment. An additional planning system that is capable of VMAT planning for Elekta linear accelerators is currently being purchased.
The Radiation Therapy Services at PAH forms part of the Metro South Radiation Oncology Services. The primary function of the service is to provide cost-effective radiation oncology services, within clinically appropriate timeframes.
This position will be located at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Woolloongabba. This position will provide scientific and technological expertise, leadership and operational management in the provision of the medical physics services. The Radiation Oncology service is particularly after an experienced medical physicist with an interest in the quality assurance of treatment planning systems and processes.
Remuneration value up to $113,869 p.a. comprising salary between $95,650 - $99,801 p.a, employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP5) (Applications will remain current for 12 months).
