The following posts are based in the Radiotherapy Physics (RTP) Group at the new Oxford Cancer Centre at the Churchill Hospital, which opened in March 2009. This purpose-built facility includes 6 multi-mode Varian linear accelerators (all with IMRT capability and respiratory gating, 2 with on-board imaging), CT virtual simulator, Acuity Simulator CT and Varian Eclipse treatment planning systems. Brachytherapy treatment is provided by a pulsed dose rate system. The Centre is supported by a full range of imaging modalities including MRI and PET. There are significant opportunities for collaborative research with the University of Oxford, in particular with the Gray Institute for Radiation Oncology and Biology (ROB).

You will ideally be more advanced in Band 7, with practical IMRT experience, already with registration as a Clinical Scientist and appropriate Corporate Membership, although applicants with less experience may be considered for appointment at a lower grade. We would be particularly keen to hear from you if your experience includes expertise either in imaging for RT assessment or of Radiotherapy networking and verification systems.

Please indicate clearly in your application your main areas of experience and interest within the entire remit of Radiotherapy Physics. For more information about the Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering Department, please see http://www.oxfordradcliffe.nhs.uk/medphys/.

For informal discussions about this post, please contact Elizabeth Macaulay, Head of Radiotherapy Physics on 01865 235516.

To find out more or to apply on-line, visit: www.jobs.nhs.uk using the job reference number. Please also send a full CV to Elizabeth Macaulay, when submitting your application form.

Interviews W/C: 13th September 2010.
