University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is the leading university teaching hospital in the West Midlands. The Trust provides adult services to nearly 700,000 patients every year, employs around 6,900 staff and is home to Birmingham's first new acute hospital in 70 years.
RRPPS provides radiation protection services to 17 NHS Trusts in addition to private hospitals, clinics, dentists and veterinary services. It comprises 11 clinical scientists and 15 clinical technologists in addition to administrative support. We have recently moved into newly re-furbished accommodation off-site including radiation laboratories and electrical workshops.
Clinical Scientist - NoN-Ionising Radiation (excluding MRI) and Radionuclides
Band 8a - £38,851 - £46,621 pa - Job reference: 304-10G0277
The post provides lead clinical scientist support to the non-ionising radiation services provided by RRPPS, including lasers, ultrasound and electromagnetic radiations but excluding MRI. You will also support RRPPS's services to users of radionuclides.
For appointment at band 8A, you will be an HPC Registered Clinical Scientist and have Laser Protection Adviser Certification or the necessary experience to apply for such a certificate soon after appointment. Candidates with less experience or without registration are invited to apply and may be considered for a post at a lower grade. The post will involve driving to clients' sites across the West Midlands area so you will require a full Driving Licence.

Clinical Scientist - Diagnostic Radiology
Band 7 - £30,460 - £40,157 PA - Job REFERENCE: 304-10G0278
The post holder will support a large team providing services to diagnostic radiology departments and other users of x-ray equipment including x-ray equipment testing and will assist the Medical Physics Experts and the Radiation Protection Advisers (RPA). The Trust has just moved into the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham with state-of-art imaging equipment. The post holder will be expected to work towards RPA accreditation. The post will involve driving to client's sites across the West Midlands area so you will require a full Driving Licence.
For appointment at band 7 you will be an HPC Registered Clinical Scientist. Candidates with less experience, e.g. who have completed Part 1of the IPEM training scheme, will be considered as pre-registration candidates (Annex U to band 7).
