Diagnostic Radiology and MRI Physicist
Band 7
Medial Physics & Clinical Engineering
Radiation Physics Section
£30,460 - £40,157
Full-time, permanent appointment

An opportunity has arisen to join the Radiation Physics Section, part of the Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, which is the fourth largest acute teaching trust in the UK. The Trust provides a range of regional specialist services and is equipped with state-of-the-art imaging equipment. The Radiation Physics Section also provides services to a number of other healthcare providers in the Midlands, covering over 40 specialist imaging units (msCT, PET/CT with cyclotron, cath labs, full-field-digital mammography). We are also active in support for PACS and imaging informatics.

You will support the provision of radiological physics services by undertaking commissioning and routine tests on imaging equipment. We are keen to further expand the research and development portfolio of the section and you will be actively encouraged and supported in these activities. The section also operates an R&D support unit for Imaging within the Trust and you will also provide support to researchers within this unit. You will also have the opportunity to play a role in the development of an MRI physics service within Nottingham.

In return, we expect ambition, enthusiasm and a commitment to help develop services for the people of the East Midlands. You will be a recently state registered clinical scientist who undertook diagnostic radiology or radiation protection as your specialist area during Part II training or are currently undertaking Part II training in diagnostic radiology. For such candidates we would support your training through to registration.

Nottingham has all the social and cultural facilities one would expect of a vibrant city and for those of a more adventurous bent, is close to the Peak District National Park and not too far from the east coast. St Pancras International Rail Terminal is less than 2 hours away. This is an exciting time to join our team - the merger of Trusts in Nottingham has brought together a team of scientists and technologists wishing to create a nationally recognised service. If you wish to be a part of this and want an informal chat, please contact either Andy Rogers on 0115 962 7648 or Matt Dunn on 0115 924 9924 x.64899.

The deadline for return of applications is 6th August 2010, and interviews will be held on 3rd September 2010.
