We are looking for two experienced Clinical Scientists in Radiotherapy Physics to join the team providing clinical scientific and physics services to the Department of Radiotherapy & Oncology. One post will take responsibility for all imaging aspects within the Department including CT, MR, EPID Dosimetry and IGRT, the second will take responsibility for the IMRT program and the introduction and development of future planning techniques including RapidArc. Both post holders will be responsible for assisting the Head of Treatment Planning in the provision of the routine treatment planning service and will participate in all other aspects of the Department's work. Familiarity with Eclipse Treatment Planning System, Helios IMRT planning and the Varian Portal Dosimetry system would be an advantage. You will be expected to work shifts as part of an extended day working arrangement.
As post holder you will take a lead in research and development in your particular aspect of the Department's work, and through wider links with the medical school at the University of East Anglia. Current developments include the introduction of RapidArc and respiratory gated treatments, commissioning of electron beam monte carlo algorithm and the expansion of both IMRT and HDR treatments to other body sites.
The Radiotherapy equipment consists of four Varian linear accelerators, all with 120MLC and Amorphous Silicon portal imaging facilities, a GE wide bore 4DCT Simulator with Advantage Windows virtual simulation, Acuity Simulator with Cone Beam CT and Eclipse treatment planning system. One linac is IGRT capable and a replacement linac with OBI is due to be installed in March 2010. Respiratory gating facilities have been installed on all megavoltage machines. The department is networked with Aria and is filmless and largely paperless. Other equipment includes a Gulmay orthovoltage x-ray unit and a Varisource HDR remote after loading machine.
Requirements:
