Medical Fellowship is open to those qualified for Medical Membership who have at least ten years experience as a medical practitioner, who are working at medical consultant level and who have made an outstanding contribution to physics and engineering applied to medicine.
Guidelines for Applicants
Medical Fellowship is intended to provide a senior category of membership for medical practitioners who have made an outstanding contribution to physics and engineering applied to medicine but who, by definition, are working as medical practitioners rather than as clinical scientists or engineers. It is analogous to the membership category of Affliate of the Royal College of Physicians of London (ARCP), which is open to senior Clinical Scientists.
Qualified medical practitioners whose career direction has moved into clinical science or engineering rather than medicine may be eligible for Corporate Membership and, subsequently, Fellowship of the Institute in accordance with the criteria set out in the Rules.
Medical Fellows take no part in the governance of the Institute, although they are encouraged to take part in its activities and, in particular, to participate in its scientific meetings and publications programmes and contribute to special interest groups.
