Iterative Reconstruction in Nuclear Medicine - Towards a "Clearer" Picture

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Postgraduate Centre, Birmingham 8th February 2011

Iterative methods have, over the last few years, entered routine clinical use for reconstruction of SPECT and PET studies. In the near future it is probable that they will completely supersede filtered back projection due to the continual increase in power of computer systems, and the commercial availability of appropriate software. Although these methods can undoubtedly improve image quality they are complex, involving a range of different algorithms and strategies for scatter correction, attenuation correction, resolution recovery and filtering.

This meeting will have a strong educational theme with the morning session consisting of invited talks reviewing iterative reconstruction from the perspective of Nuclear Medicine applications. For the afternoon session abstracts are invited from interested professionals on any relevant topic including technical issues, new developments, parameter optimisation, possible artefacts, and clinical applications.

Please submit one-page abstracts (electronic versions preferred) by 8 October 2010 to:
