Resources for Teachers

Medical Physics on the curriculum

IPEM has been involved in creating a website for teachers that contains lessons as Powerpoint presentations and other material aimed at helping teachers to teach science with examples from medical physics. The presentations can be used as free-standing lessons at GCSE level (see below and click on the subjects), or parts of the presentations may be used at A level, or for particular topics such as the Doppler effect, radiation safety or waves.

Exploring, treating, understanding - using ULTRASOUND

Exploring, treating, understanding - using the
ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM

Exploring, treating, understanding - using RADIOACTVITY

Subject Posters

IPEM has produced a number of posters summarising the key areas of medical physics and clincial engineering.  Please contact Eva McClean at the IPEM office to order these.

Educational Visits
Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering is a great subject to get students interested in, especially girls.  If you want to arrange a visit to a medical physics department, or have one of our members to give a presentation we are happy to facilitate the initial contact.  Please get in touch with
Eva McClean at IPEM.
