Radionuclide Therapy and Dosimetry

29/02/2012 09:55
29/02/2012 16:40
Birmingham & Midland Institute, Birmingham

The use of Radionuclide Therapy requires an interdisciplinary approach, from radiobiology, clinical work-up, treatment options and prescribing of dose through to patient care, radiation protection and retrospective dosimetry.

Areas where practice varies across the country include quantitative evaluation of diagnostic studies, patient preparation, pre and post treatment imaging, patient specific dosimetry and radiation protection issues for staff and relatives.

The valuable contribution afforded by radionuclide therapy is visible in the new treatments which are currently being evaluated and others which are in development.

The aim of the meeting will be to propose some practical advice on implementing relatively simple patient specific dosimetry. It will also be an opportunity for scientific and technical staff and clinicians to look in more detail at some of the principles of radionuclide therapy,
share good practice and experience, and present new work.
