Organised by IPEM's Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Special Interest Groups

Computed Tomography (CT) is used widely in SPECT and PET.  Experience with diagnostic CT resides with the Diagnostic Radiology community, whereas the Nuclear Medicine community has greater experience with use of CT within hybrid imaging, using CT for attenuation correction and localisation, but also using diagnostic CT within hybrid imaging protocols.

Optimising the use of CT in SPECT and PET requires a multi-disciplinary team combining the skills of diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine physicists, radiographers and technical staff.  This meeting intends to bring both communities together to learn from one another in order to better understand the technology and its uses.

The conference will include discussion of routine and novel clinical uses of CT imaging in SPECT and PET.  Those who have been through the optimisation process will share their approach and experiences.  CT equipment testing methodologies, and how proper equipment testing can minimise risk to the patient, will also be discussed.

Learning Outcomes
1. A better understanding of the use of CT imaging in SPECT/CT and PET/CT
2. A better understanding of the concerns of the different staff involved
3. Information regarding the approach to optimisation used elsewhere, how successful it proved and whether improvements could be made for others attempting it in their own centres

Target Audience
1. Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine physicists
2. Nuclear Medicine technologists and radiographers
